In recent years, as the
genetic and biochemical informations within cells increases, it
has become clear that molecular biology is facing a new challenge: to
move from the description of individual components and their
interactions towards system analysis. For such an analysis, we
need a new vocabulary that contains concepts to describe "collective
phenomena'', which is given rise to by the interactions of
biomolecules. In particular, what kind of general principles
governthe biological systems, which have been "designed'' in the
evolutionary process? In this symposium, we will discuss the new ideas
of these challenges. |
